Being a work from home (WFH) mom with a one year old, two year old, and pregnant with one on the way is no easy feat!

As a business owner, I’m so thankful that I get to work on my own terms and I know that not everyone has that luxury.

But if you are a fellow mompreneur with littles running around (or you’re looking for a toddler daily schedule that will fit in time for a side hustle), then you’re in the right place. I hope and pray that this blog post can help you get a good starting point to finding a WFH mom rhythm!

But First, Some Background

I currently own a Pinterest marketing business called The Pinner’s Circle where I help mompreneurs grow their businesses with sustainable marketing strategies (like Pinterest) so that they can spend less time marketing their biz and more time with their kiddos.

I also have this blog which is currently in it’s *revival* phase. This is a space where I share all things motherhood as well as test out things for my Pinterest business. I’m currently testing out if you can grow a network marketing business solely from blogging + Pinterest, so i’ve partnered with Arbonne and I’m treating it more as an affiliate link to see how it goes.

My Pinterest business takes me about 10-15 hours a week, and I spend about 2-5 hours a week on my lifestyle blog.

And then obviously my most important job is my kiddos. My one and two year old (and the baby currently growing in me) require almost every other hour of my day. I’m also in a season of learning how to slow down, be present, and truly enjoy motherhood.

So with that, we’ve created a rhythm in this season (with two toddlers a rigid routine just doesn’t work for us) that has been working for us with lots of room for rest, play, and also time for mama to work.

Daily Rhythm

5:00am(ish)- I try to wake up and get out of bed before my kids do. During this time i’ll make my coffee with my fav protein powder (because my metabolism literally hates me if I have caffeine before eating), get ready for the day (like full on dressed + makeup), spend some time reading my bible and journaling, and planning out our day in my fav planner.

5:30/5:45am (ish)- I usually have at least one early riser kid who joins me, and we’ll snuggle, drink our morning beverages together, and read some books/finish up my planning session.

6am(ish)- The day gets started. I’ll start my morning  habits which are unloading the dishwasher from the night before, starting some laundry, and making the bed. If one of the kids is up, I’ll have them help me. I’ll also get started on breakfast and i’ll usually take 10 or so minutes to check my email from my phone while i’m waiting on breakfast to cook and the kids can hang with dad for a bit.

7am(ish)-we eat breakfast together, do table chores together, say goodbye to dad, and get ready for the day. We go from kid room to kid room to get dressed, play for a bit, straighten up from the day before, and then make beds. We take our time with this and allow time for lots of play, singing, and quality time together.

9:00am(ish)- we do an activity, usually one from Learning With Kelsey, watercolors/coloring, a sensory bin, or some *real lite* homeschool activities (aka learn about an animal or letter or number, nothing crazy) bake some sourdough, or another craft.

10am(ish)— snack time!

10:15/10:30(ish)—This one flips with the afternoon depending on our weather here in Texas, but since it’s cold in the mornings currently we use this time to turn on music and hang out in the playroom. We’re working on independent play, so I’ll bring my laptop in and work on something that I can be interrupted in and let them play. i’ll set up some toy stations to get them started, and encourage them to play together,  on their own, or look at books, etc.

11:30(ish)- i’ll start prepping lunch, and the babes will have some screen time. truly, where would we be without Bluey though? Sometimes they’ll help me with lunch, but most of the time they are starting to get tired so they just watch a show.

12pm(ish)-we’ll eat lunch together and chat about how our day is going, or listen to the biblestories for kids app, or some music.

12:30pm(ish)- the babies go down for rest/quiet time. During this time I make myself my daily greens drink, do a quick afternoon reset, and work.

2/2:30(ish)- babies up from rest/quiet time, and we’ll have a snack (which we call afternoon tea from my time in Australia + our love for Bluey) and snuggle until everyone is in a decent mood.

3pm(ish)-Outside time!  This is the part that depends on the time of year/what the weather is like, but we’ll try to spend some time outside if the weather is good (or at least tolerable) either in the morning or afternoon.

4:30pm(ish)—we’ll come inside and prep dinner and have some more screen time.

5pm(ish)- My husband comes home and we spend some family time together. We eat dinner together, play outside some more if it’s nice, go on walks, play in the playroom, or even go out and run errands if we need to. We also do our bedtime routine and have everyone in bed by 7:45(ish)

7:45-9(ish)- this is the time where I will do a work power hour if needed, or i’ll have some time to watch Netflix, hang with the hubs, or honestly go to bed because 31 weeks pregnant.

So that’s that! I get at least three hours of work in during the day (two hours of focused work and one hour of interrupted work) with the option of an extra week power hour at the end of the day. That gives me 15-20 hours to work on my business a week, which is a win and doesn’t feel overwhelming to me in this season.

Some things to note about this WFH Schedule/Toddler Schedule:

  • You’ll notice we don’t go out normally during the day. We do a lot of errands over the weekend/in the evenings when my husband is home because 1) we like doing things all together 2) i’m in my third trimester and don’t want to have to go out right now unless I need to. My kids also go to their grandparents house often/if we need to get out of the house.
  • I am all about working smarter not harder, so you better believe I order all my groceries on Instacart to save time and honestly save money. Here’s my referral link for you to get $10 when you place your first order: https://inst.cr/t/318d2dffa
  • I know that this will definitely change once little buddy gets here, but this is what’s working for us now!

If you’re a mompreneur, side hustler, or you’re just looking for a toddler schedule that gives you some flexibility in your day—I hope this inspires you!

You’ve got this, mama!
