I don’t know what it is, but I LOVE knowing what other people eat in a day. Maybe it’s because I’m naturally curious, or perhaps it inspires me to try new things. So, I figured I’d share what I eat and drink in a day during my third trimester with my third baby. Hopefully, this gives you some ideas if you feel like you’re stuck in a rut.

Before I dive in, let’s talk about diet. I want to clarify that I am not a doctor. My insights are purely based on what I’ve learned throughout my three pregnancies and what works for my body.

I do my best to avoid gluten, although I indulge in homemade sourdough, bread, and pasta. However, I don’t shy away from carbs. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I’ve struggled with eating enough—not intentionally, but because I often forget to eat due to pregnancy brain. To counter this, I try to eat around five times a day, aligning my meals with when my little ones eat.

As of writing this post, I’m 32 weeks pregnant.

Alright–let’s dive in.

What I Eat & Drink In A Day:

At 5am, I start my day with Protein Coffee. I prefer drinking this protein-infused coffee upon waking, instead of just having regular coffee on an empty stomach. And yes, I do wake up this early even while pregnant – you can read more about our daily rhythms in my latest post here. Currently, I’m using Arbonne’s meal replacement for my morning coffee. However, I don’t really use it as a meal replacement while pregnant, but rather as a kickstarter for my day. I love it because it’s gluten-free, vegan, free from seed oils, and packed with vitamins, minerals, and 24g of protein. It even tastes like cake batter – that’s definitely a win in my book! I enhance it further by pouring a shot of espresso over it.

If you’re interested in trying this protein, I’ve included a link here where you can grab it. I’ve added a Preferred Client option, so you can enjoy discounted Arbonne products for a year. If you don’t want this option, simply remove it. Alongside my protein coffee, I also have my Stanley cup filled up, ready to slowly sip through the morning.

Between 7am and 7:30am, it’s breakfast time with the family. We make it a point to sit down and enjoy this meal together. During weekdays, our breakfast usually features a lot of eggs from our own chickens, accompanied by some breakfast meat – currently, we’re big fans of turkey bacon. We also enjoy a slice of sourdough bread with butter and ‘everything but the bagel’ seasoning. On weekends, we like to switch things up a bit, often opting for sourdough discard baked pancakes, waffles, or sometimes a casserole. However, from Monday to Friday, you’ll typically find me savoring my usual eggs, turkey bacon, and sourdough toast

At around 10 am, it’s time for our Morning Tea, which is also our snack time. We don’t actually live in a place where morning tea is a tradition, but having lived in Australia for a while, and with my kids (and honestly, my husband and I) being huge fans of Bluey, I feel we’ve adopted the practice quite nicely. It’s a convenient way to let my kids know when to expect snacks by saying, ‘We’ll have snacks at morning tea’, and they understand that it’s part of our routine. During this time, we often enjoy homemade treats like muffins or scones, homemade gummies, fruit, or energy bites and homemade protein bars. One of my resolutions for the next year is to make more of our food from scratch rather than buying pre-made, so I’m trying to get into the rhythm of making snacks like gummies, energy bites, and protein bars at home. Typically, I’ll have 1-3 of these items during morning tea. Currently, I’m enjoying a protein bar paired with some fresh fruit. This is also the time when I finish my 40oz Stanley cup of water and make an effort to refill it as we wrap up our snack time.

Between 12:30 and 1 pm, it’s lunchtime. This is the one part of the day when I don’t eat with my kids. They enjoy chicken nuggets and veggies, which I prepare for them in the air fryer around 11:45 am or noon. Once their lunch is ready, I make what I eat almost every day—a baked potato. Yes, I absolutely LOVE baked potatoes. In the air fryer, it only takes about 30 minutes, and it crisps up the skin perfectly. I also appreciate how versatile they are. Sometimes, I top them with leftover protein from the previous night’s dinner, adding some cheese and Greek yogurt. A frequent favorite is beans, corn, and cheese with taco seasoning. Some other favorites include:

  • Cottage cheese, butter, and ‘everything but the bagel’ seasoning (seriously, don’t knock it until you try it)
  • Sloppy Joe Potato
  • Classic combo of bacon, cheese, and greek yogurt
  • Veggie-loaded, especially with broccoli and cheese
  • Fried egg and bacon
  • Big Mac-style potato

That’s the real beauty of baked potatoes—they’re incredibly versatile. The potato is just a base for endless possibilities.

Alongside my potato, I like to have my greens from Arbonne. The ones I use have a refreshing light citrus flavor, which pairs wonderfully with sparkling water. You can grab the greens here!

At around 3 pm, we have our Afternoon Tea, which is essentially our afternoon snack time. During this break, all of us usually enjoy some sourdough toast. We have a variety of toppings, like avocado (which lends itself to numerous variations) or a classic combination of honey, butter, and a sprinkle of salt. We often accompany our toast with veggies and dips, such as hummus or Greek yogurt ranch. Sometimes, we elevate the experience to a full charcuterie spread with cheese and salami. I also continue sipping from my Stanley cup during this time. My goal is to finish my second one by 4 pm, to mitigate the frequency of nighttime bathroom trips. This is also the time when I enjoy my red raspberry leaf tea because you know, pregnancy prep.

Around 5:30 pm, it’s time for dinner. I enjoy varying our dinner menu because we tend to eat a lot of the same things during the rest of the day. Here’s what we have planned for this week:

We’re really embracing cozy meals lately! Along with dinner, I usually have a sparkling water to drink.

Between 7:30 pm and 8 pm, after the kids are in bed, I sometimes have a piece of fruit. However, in just a few weeks, this will likely be the time when I start including dates in my evening routine!

So, there you have it. I hope this post gives you some ideas for meals during your third trimester, or even just some inspiration if you’re in a bit of a food slump.

You might have noticed that a good portion of our meals, snacks, and even dinners often include sourdough on the side. Are you ready to start your sourdough journey? I would love to share my sourdough starter with you! Click here to get some dehydrated starter along with instructions on how to rehydrate it.

I’m curious to know – what are some of your favorite go-to meals during pregnancy, or what do you usually prepare for your kids?
