Summer Activity For Toddlers: Giant Bubbles

Ah, summer. It’s a time of sun tans and yummy bbq’s, hours spent at the beach and sleeping in…just kidding. I have a toddler.

In reality the days are spent putting on so much sunscreen and making the same three meals over and over again because that’s all your child wants to eat. It’s 30 minutes at the beach because the sand doesn’t taste good, and it’s waking up at 5am everyday because it’s starting to get light outside.

Ah, summer. One day we’ll get back to those pre-toddler times, but for now we’ll spend our days trying to keep our toddlers entertained.

Cue…giant bubbles.

Yes, giant bubbles. We had so much fun with this activity that Kyle even wanted to join in!

You can either make your own giant bubble solution, or you can grab this kit from Amazon.

Giant Bubbles

The perfect toddler entertainment

Materials

  • 12 Cup(s) Water
  • 1 Cup(s) Corn Starch
  • 2 TBSP Baking Powder
  • 1 Cup(s) Dawn Dish Soap (or any dish soap)
  • 2 TBSP Glycerin

Instructions

  • 1. In a large bucket, dishpan, or kiddie pool, add 6 cups of water and corn starch, and whisk until combined.
  • 2. Add in the rest of the water and baking powder and whisk some more.
  • 3. Stir in the dish soap and glycerin SLOWLY with a wooden spoon. Otherwise it will suds up all over you.
  • 4. Let the solution sit for about an hour before using it, and then gently stir to remix for a couple minutes before use.
  • 5. Have fun!

Notes

It is normal for the solids to separate during play. Every 10-15 minutes, just give it a quick stir!

I hope you enjoy playing with these giant bubbles, tag me and let me know if you end up trying it!
