3 Fun Activities To Do At Home With Your One Year Old
Being one is a world of fun, but I feel like for us personally the minute we hit one, we needed to constantly be entertained or have all to have all of the attention.
We don’t do a ton of screen time around here, so I try to plan 2-3 activities everyday for when we have some grumpy moments or need to redirect. Here’s a couple that we have been loving lately.

1. Water Painting
This one is so fun, and so easy. All you need is some construction paper, water, and some paint brushes. Tape down the construction paper to a surface that can get wet ( I love this tape for a lot of the activities we do), and fill up a baby safe container with some water, dip your paint brushes in, and let your little one go to town.
I love joining in on this one, but this activity is one that you can be a little bit hands off on if you attach the paper to the high chair or another safe space. As you know, it’s always a good idea to at least keep your little one in eyesight, just in case!
Materials:
+ tape
2. Lemon Water Sensory Bin
This one is so easy, and keeps P entertained for 20-30 minutes (which is a HUGE win for a one year old), and is perfect for indoor or outdoor play.
Take a sensory bin or baking dish and put it on top of a towel or waterproof surface if you are indoors. Fill it half way to three quarters of the way with water. I like to add yellow food coloring, but it’s completely optional. Cut up some lemon in slices and put it in the water. Use metal strainers, slotted spoons, wooden spoons, and any other kitchen utensils for your babe to scoop lemons out. This one is completely taste-safe, and a great way to introduce sensory bins to your little one!
Materials:
+ lemons
+ various kitchen utensils- these are my favorite.
3. Pom Pom Drop
The pom pom drop is another great activity. Those leftover toilet paper and papertowl cardboard peices are key in this activity (just let your partner know that you are hoarding them for a reason, otherwise they will get thrown away). Take those and tape them to the wall, start simple when you are first doing the activity (think taping them so that the pom poms go straight down) and as you do this activity more and more you can get more creative. Then put the pom poms in different bowls, baskets, or containers and let your toddler put them through the cardboard tubes.
Oddly, this keeps Paislee entertained for a while, and there isn’t any mess involved in this activity, which makes it perfect to do over and over again.
Materials:
+ pom poms
+ tape ( I use same as above)
+ baskets
+ cardboard tubes ( from toilet paper of paper towels)
I hope that your one year old loves these activities as much as mine does! What are some of your favorite activities to do with your one year old?!
