Pregnancy Must Haves: 9 Things To Keep You Comfortable
When I was pregnant the first time around, I was bombarded with YOU NEED THIS from friends, Instagram ads/mom influencers, pregnancy apps, and pretty much anywhere else you read something or get advice from. This second time around I feel much more prepared and realize that soooo much of what was targeted at me wasn’t something I truly needed. Now I personally think that you can probably get by with very minimal items in your pregnancy, but here are the things that were must haves in my first pregnancy, and I am using again during this one.

1. A Wedge Pregnancy Pillow
I am going to be honest with you, this one is more of a personal problem, because I always find myself ending up sleeping on my back while pregnant. If you’re new to pregnancy, at a certain point you aren’t really supposed to sleep on your back. Somehow, someway, I end up on my back every single night when I start on my side. That’s why I love this wedge pregnancy pillow, because even if I end up on my back, I’m not fully laying flat on my back. It’s also so much smaller and more manageable than the giant pregnancy pillow, which I also have so you can take my word for it!
2. Maternity Leggings
When people ask me about maternity clothes, I’m always really really honest with them and let them know that I don’t spend a ton of money on them. There are plenty of ways to shop for maternity clothes on a budget because having a few pairs of maternity pants you can wear to work is definitely helpful. However, this is the one season of your life that you can wear super cute and comfy leggings with oversized shirts every single day and I truly believe you should do so. That’s why instead of investing in a whole new wardrobe, I have a couple of leggings that give me support in my belly as it grows and make do with pretty much everything else from my own closet.
3. Comfy Bras
Seriously. I know it may seem weird to buy nursing bras while you are pregnant, but I found this set on Amazon and they are so comfy. Let’s just real talk here–your breasts are going to grow. Buy really comfy nursing bras you like now, so that by the time your breasts are massive from your milk coming in and your babe is here, it’s the last thing you have to worry about.
4. Stretchy Underwear
Let’s just say that constricting and/or lace was not at all my thing while I was pregnant. Having this stretchy underwear has been ahhh-mazing. If I had to compare them, I would compare them to the PINK seamless underwear that I used to spend a ridiculous amount of money on because they said “PINK”. Thankfully, they don’t say anything on them. Thank goodness we’ve moved past that phase. Make sure you size up for ultimate comfort.
5. Natural Body Butter or Oil
Fun fact–you don’t have to get something that’s specifically made for your belly or stretch marks. Another fun fact–stretch marks are a big part genetic, meaning if your mom had stretch marks, there is a good chance you will too. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a good body butter or oil that you are using on your belly daily because as your belly grows it gets reeeeeaaaal itchy and this can bring you lots of relief. The one thing I do recommend is to check those ingredients. You don’t want any crazy fragrance or toxins near that sweet baby of yours.
6. Comfortable Sneakers
Yes and amen to sneakers being back in “style”. Once you’re massive though, I will say a lot of style just goes out the window that last month and you’re going to be very very glad you have some comfy sneaks to pair with your shirt that is too small and your biker shorts/leggings. Allow yourself to splurge on nice shoes, you’ll need them when your baby starts running!
7. Biker Shorts
I know I know. Trendy. Not here for it. But the thing is, with all that blood pumping through your veins in your pregnancy there are going to be times you run really hot, no matter if you’re pregnant in December or July. These biker shorts aren’t necessarily maternity, but if you size up one size then they will make it through your pregnancy PLUS be perfect for postpartum.

8. Goooood Skincare
It was the best of skin, and it was the worst of skin. My skin is all over the place during pregnancy, and there is very few skin care products that actually help with it. In fact, the only thing that worked was a really simple skincare routine and some DIY Blue Tansy serum (recipe coming soon!) to keep my face moisturized. It was also my holy grail postpartum. Again, keep ingredients top of mind when looking for skincare!
9. Belly Band
Jesus, thank you for creating the belly band. Taking some of the pressure off of your hips in the end of the second trimester and third trimester is an actual gift from God. I know some people don’t get as big as I did so I can’t say this is a “must have” for everyone, but it’s definitely a must for me.
Hang in their mama, those last couple months of pregnancy can be rough! If you need a distraction, check out my post about what I packed in my hospital bag vs. what I actually needed here!
