5 Things You NEED In Your Nursery

Does planning a nursery have you completely and totally overwhelmed? It seems like it was only a few months ago (over a year ago…..howwww) that I was trying to plan/figure out what I needed in Paislee’s nursery and now here we are again planning for baby boy’s nursery! This time around, I feel like I have a handle on what is actually going to be necessary vs unnecessary in a baby nursery, and you better believe that these are the five things that I am snagging before I do anything else.

The Hatch Rest+

Obviously any sound machine will work, but this sound machine is my absolute favorite for a couple of reasons. First off, it has a variety of sounds/volumes/lighting to choose from. You can actually schedule different lights/sounds at different times. Since Paislee is getting about to jump into toddlerhood, I can schedule the light to change color after a certain time in the morning to let her know that she’s free to wake up. It’s also chargeable and will automatically keep playing if the power goes out, or can go to the grandparents for naps really easily!  It’s truly something that I have loved with P, and plan on getting for this baby (and any future baby to come).

Dresser Drawer Organizers

Organizing P’s nursery was so fun for me, but if I could go back I would have gotten some drawer organizers a lot sooner than I did. It wasn’t until after she was born that I found these and it instantly made all the little baby things so much more organized. This seems obvious, but truly it’s the obvious things that you forget about!

Closet Size Dividers/Organizers

When you have a baby, you have a million articles of clothing that don’t fit your baby. That’s why having these closet organizers with sizes is super helpful! When your baby does size up clothing, it makes it easier to see what you have and what you need.

Closet Baskets

Okay, hear me out for this one. I saw this tip on Pinterest one time and it was a game changer. Similar to the closet size organizers, these are a must. I have two baskets in Paislee’s closet (besides her laundry hamper) which I have labeled “too small” and “too big.” The too small one is a quick space to throw things that she’s grown out of, and the too big one is great for things like onesies and sleepers that I find second hand that she needs to grow into and I don’t feel the need to hang up. I go through both of these every couple of months. I’m grabbing two more baskets for baby #2’s closet!

A Comfy Place For YOU

Whether you are breastfeeding or not, chances are you will find yourself feeding, rocking, and even maybe falling asleep in your child’s nursery at one point or another. Investing in a cozy chair might seem like a waste, but I promise you, it’s not. If you do plan on breastfeeding, you can also set up a portable cart with all of your breastfeeding essentials and snacks you will be needing to get you through a nursing session. Plus, let’s just be honest. It’s nice to have a quiet place to escape sometimes with your baby. So truly, do not forget about this one.
