We Bought A Blue Bathroom…I Mean a 1950’s Fixer Upper!

We bought a blue bathroom! If you missed it, last weekend we moved into a home built in 1956, complete with the original bright blue bathroom, and a green one.

The most common question I’ve been getting is “why did you move? Your house was beautiful!”

It was beautiful, and honestly, that was part of the problem.

When we bought that house almost a year ago, I was heading into my third trimester, and I truly just wanted a space we didn’t have to do anything to. We were in a bit of a time crunch, and when we saw the beautiful home come up on the market, we jumped on the opportunity.

We did sacrifice some things on our wish list. Originally, we weren’t looking to be in a subdivision because we wanted things like a bigger yard for our kiddos and dogs to run around in and I wanted a garden. We ended up putting that on the back burner because our backyard opened up to an open space behind us. Well, over the summer a fence was built directly behind our fence, meaning we couldn’t use that green space behind us any more. That was kind of the tipping point for Kyle, so we decided to start the process of looking for somewhere else to live.

We really wanted to be able to take our time this time, because we are not going to be moving every time I get pregnant!

That’s why we decided to go with Orchard, which I will share about on another day.

We actually virtually met with and started the process with Orchard on September 1st, the same day we found out we were pregnant again AND Paislee started full on crawling. It was quite the day for us!

By the end of the month, we were able to find a house that we liked we saw a lot of potential in making it our own. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of great parts of this house. But there are also a lot of things that need to be completely changed or updated. But, that’s all a part of the process, and Kyle can’t wait to start tearing out walls!

So now here’s the moment you’ve been waiting for, the “before” of the house. Photos curtesy of Zillow.
