5 Things I Do Every Weekend To Prep For A Good Week Ahead
Weekends are my favorite, mostly because my husband is home with us and I absolutely love spending any/all the time that I can with him! By the time Sunday rolls around, I find myself really falling into those Sunday scaries sometimes.
That’s why I have recently decided to try to do what I can to make our weekdays a little bit easier, and boy has it been a game changer. Here are 5 Things I try to do every weekend to set myself as well as our family up for a good week ahead.

1. Meal Plan For The Week
This has truly been so crucial for us to have a successful week. We are currently in the phase where Paislee gets a little bit grumpy when it’s time for me to actually make dinner. So having the plan and knowing exactly what I’m making instead of standing in front of the fridge trying to throw something together has been so nice. I will also plan lunch for all of us during the week, and plan some batch breakfast to make for the week. All of the ingredients and groceries needed for the week then go straight into the Instacart app and I then schedule it for delivery first thing Monday morning. Â
2. Plan Activities For The Week + Rotate Toys
I LOVE sensory play for P. I also love sensory play! That’s why I take some time to scroll Pinterest and find some really fun and easy activities for us to do over the week. I try to do at least 2-3 activities a week, depending on what’s going on for us I will add more if I can! What’s great about planning these activities ahead of time is that if I need anything for them I can just quickly add it to my Instacart order. I am also starting to introduce more learning activities for her, so I will try to plan 2-3 of those per week! I then will take a look at Paislee’s toys on her toy shelf, and rotate any that she’s not showing a ton of interest in. She has 8-12 toys on her toy shelf, her Ikea kitchen she plays with, a toddler trampoline, and then some toys up in our main living space that fit in our storage ottomans. I refresh things she doesn’t play with or has been out for a while and replace them with others!
3. Spend Intentional Time With The Hubs
I have been trying to make sure that Kyle and I spend some intentional time together on the weekends, which usually ends up happening during one of P’s naps. I try to make sure that we spend some time talking/planning through our weeks, figure out ways we can be better this week/encourage each other, and just make sure that we create space to talk about anything we need to talk about.
4. Take A Long ShowerÂ
I’m talking about that leg shaving, facemask, and a full-hair conditioning shower. At our old house, I used to take baths but since we don’t have a good sized bathtub (I don’t really want to take a bath in the tiny guest bathroom) a shower does the trick. This is my time to shower/have some alone time without my eyes gazing over to the monitor. Usually I try to do it while Kyle is either with P or she’s napping/sleeping and he is able to watch the monitor. Having just that little bit of time to myself allows me to reset and be a better mom + wife.
5. Go To Bed Early
I feel like I go to bed early everyday these days (helloooooo third trimester), but I make a point to go to bed early on the weekends if I can, or even just be in bed early to read or watch a movie and wind down. This forces me to step away from all of the other household tasks and actually attempt to get good rest before the chaos of the week starts.
Here’s some of my favorite reads lately!
Ready to level up your grocery game?
Rallying my 31 week pregnant self and my 14 month old to get to the grocery store is sometimes a nightmare. Then in walks–INSTACART. Meal planning + grocery shopping just got a whole lot easier, beacause who doesn’t love shopping with a glass of wine (or red raspberry leaf tea in my case) from the couch?
